Background
Netdigs was founded by Len Johnson, BSc (Hons). A fanatical web developer who also has a passion for teaching and sharing knowledge.
Len was a higher education lecturer (in Computing) at Halesowen College for many years, where he specialised in teaching Web and app development. But he has been developing and hosting websites since 2000.
The 2020 Covid-19 pandemic left Len with plenty of time on his hands. And, it was during this time that he came up with the idea for Netdigs.
Even though his primary passion lay in hosting websites, he was also aware that students and the wider public had a great interest in how and where they could house other applications and media.
With the amount of data and digital files that we create growing exponentially, it seemed likely that there would always be innovation in this field. As a result, the issue of finding the right Internet hosting services is only likely to become more difficult.
Ultimately, this led him to believe that there is great demand for niche services like Netdigs.
Brand
Netdigs is a brand name. It is derived from the word ‘net’ which is short for Internet and ‘digs’ which is an informal word meaning ‘home’ or ‘dwelling’.
Domain Name
The .com version of the domain name was unavailable and unreachable when Len founded this site. So, he settled on netdigs.co.uk for the main site and he registered the .net and .uk extensions too.
